Rumer Willis recently opened up about the meaningful inspiration behind her daughter’s name, paying homage to her father, Bruce Willis, who is battling dementia.
The daughter of Hollywood icon Bruce Willis, Rumer, welcomed her daughter, Louetta Isley, with her partner Derek Thomas earlier this year. However, she only revealed the significance of the name recently.
Explaining the origin of the unique name, Rumer shared that she and Thomas settled on “Louetta” after discovering they would have a daughter. She expressed her fondness for the name “Lou” and combined it with “Etta” and “Isley” to create Louetta. Rumer stated, “Her name is a mix of things I love.”
Part of this mix of influences is her father, Bruce Willis, who inspired the choice. Rumer disclosed, “We wanted to give her options and me and my dad’s favorite singers are Lou= Louie Armstrong, Etta= Etta James, Isley= Isley Brother.”
Interestingly, Louetta’s name was almost Loretta, but a typo by her father during a text exchange changed it to Louetta, a change that brought no regrets. Despite his illness, Bruce Willis continues to shower his granddaughter with love, further connecting her to him through her name.
