Country music icon Dolly Parton, 77, renowned for her legendary career, recently announced the end of her touring days. In an interview with Pollystar, she conveyed her decision, saying, “I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.” Despite bidding farewell to the stage, Parton remains committed to creating music.
Parton’s love story with husband Carl Thomas Dean began in 1964 when they met outside a Nashville laundromat. Dean, recalling the moment, said, “My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna marry that girl.’ My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin’.” Although Parton initially declined a date, their connection grew stronger, leading to their private wedding in Ringgold, Georgia, in May 1966.
The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2016 with a vow renewal. Now, with the conclusion of touring, Parton plans to focus on her marriage, stating, “I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”
