Brigitte Bardot, the 89-year-old former actress and model, experienced a health scare this summer due to extreme heat. Emergency services were called to her residence in the South of France.
Bardot, known for her roles in the 1950s and 60s, retired from acting in 1973 to focus on animal welfare activism. In July 2023, she faced breathing difficulties due to the heat. Her husband, Bernard d’Ormale, stated, “It was around 9 a.m. when Brigitte had trouble breathing.” Firefighters provided her with oxygen and monitored her condition. D’Ormale explained that the heat was particularly challenging for Bardot: “Like all people of a certain age, she can no longer bear the heat.”
Although Bardot did not lose consciousness, the incident highlighted the vulnerability of the elderly to extreme temperatures. D’Ormale mentioned, “Her pulse is fine, her heart too and her blood pressure is good, but things remain fragile.” He noted that their home’s air conditioning is insufficient, adding to the discomfort during heatwaves.
