Trump has ‘disturbing’ response after South African

During a May 21 Oval Office meeting, President Donald Trump clashed with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa after pushing a debunked conspiracy theory that white farmers in South Africa are facing genocide. Trump criticized the media for focusing on his \$400 million luxury jet gift from Qatar—intended to become the new Air Force One—instead of these alleged atrocities. Ramaphosa responded sarcastically, referencing the jet by saying, “I’m sorry, I didn’t have a plane to give you.” Trump replied that he would accept one if offered, prompting backlash online, with many accusing him of implying America could be “bought.”

The meeting took a darker turn as Trump dimmed the lights to show a video by South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters party, which included controversial imagery and music. He claimed state-sanctioned violence against white people, which Ramaphosa firmly denied, emphasizing that such claims are misleading and that violence in South Africa affects all communities. Businessman Johann Rupert also challenged Trump’s assertions, stating the violence is not racially targeted. Despite widespread denial of anti-white violence from South African courts and farmers, Trump has continued to promote the narrative and has even granted refugee status to over 50 white South Africans.
