The White House issues bizarre response after audio of Donald Trump threatening Russia is leaked
An audio recording has surfaced of U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly threatening to bomb Moscow, prompting a curious response from the White House.
The audio, reportedly captured during a private fundraising event last year, was obtained by journalists Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf, and later shared with CNN. It’s also featured in their new book titled 2024.
In the recording, Trump discusses geopolitical issues involving Eastern Europe and Asia while criticizing former President Joe Biden. He claims that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine wouldn’t have happened under his leadership.
Trump is heard saying he told Vladimir Putin, “If you go into Ukraine, I’m going to bomb the s**t out of Moscow.” He added that when Putin didn’t believe him, Trump replied, “Way.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has mentioned such a warning. On the campaign trail in October, he claimed he had similarly threatened Putin, insisting he would strike Moscow if forced.
Though Trump has not directly addressed the leak, White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly responded, stressing that Russia didn’t invade Ukraine while Trump was in office.
Kelly’s statement added that under Trump’s leadership, “peace through strength is restored,” and that his “America First” agenda is being implemented.
Trump has continued to criticize Putin, recently accusing him of spreading “bulls**t” during talks about Ukraine. He also confirmed he is strongly considering new sanctions on Russia.
