Shocking impact ‘new Baba Vanga’ has had on tourism after she predicted

Japanese fortune teller and former manga artist Ryo Tatsuki, dubbed the “new Baba Vanga,” has sparked concern with a prediction of a disaster set to occur on July 5. Known for her vivid prophetic dreams since the 1980s, Tatsuki accurately predicted the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Her latest vision involves the ocean “boiling” south of Japan, which many interpret as an impending undersea volcanic eruption that could cause a massive tsunami affecting Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The alarming prediction has significantly impacted tourism in Japan, especially in cities like Kagoshima and Kumamoto. Bookings have dropped by 50% according to a Hong Kong travel agency, and airlines like Hong Kong Airlines are cutting flights for July and August. The Chinese embassy’s earlier warning about natural disasters in Japan has only intensified fears. However, Miyagi Governor Yoshihiro Murai has dismissed Tatsuki’s claims as baseless and urged travelers not to be deterred by unscientific rumors, encouraging visitors to enjoy Japan with confidence.
