She’s finally addressing the ongoing rumors 😯
Michelle Obama has once again addressed the persistent divorce rumors surrounding her and former President Barack Obama, calling them baseless and exaggerated.
In a recent appearance on NPR’s Wild Card podcast with host Rachel Martin, Michelle directly responded to the speculation, highlighting how absurd it is to assume something is wrong just because the couple isn’t constantly seen together.
She explained that their public silence doesn’t indicate trouble in their marriage, but rather reflects their more private, laid-back lifestyle since leaving the White House. “We’re in our 60s—we don’t Instagram everything,” Michelle said, adding they don’t feel the need to post updates constantly.
She noted that people’s inability to see her make independent choices likely fuels the rumors. Michelle emphasized that if they ever did separate, the world would certainly be informed — it wouldn’t be hidden.
Michelle also joked about how Barack teases her for not taking photos of their time together. “I’m not thinking about a picture,” she admitted, reinforcing how their focus has shifted from public appearances to living in the moment.
The couple met in 1988 while working at a Chicago law firm and married in 1992. They have two daughters, Malia and Natasha, born in 1998 and 2001 respectively.
Barack served as the first Black U.S. President from 2009 to 2017. He’s previously acknowledged that the pressure of the presidency placed strain on their relationship, but they’ve continued to stay strong as a couple.
