Prince William and Kate Middleton slammed by PETA in brutal statement over his birthday portrait

Prince William and Kate Middleton have come under fire from animal rights group PETA after sharing a photo featuring their dog and her new puppies.

Last week, the Princess of Wales posted a birthday picture of Prince William sitting in a field with their English Cocker Spaniel, Orla, and her three recently born pups.

The puppies were reportedly born in May, and the photo marked their public debut. The caption read: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”

While royal fans were thrilled by the photo, praising it as joyful and heartwarming, not everyone shared the sentiment. PETA responded with strong criticism of the couple’s decision.

PETA’s Vice President, Elisa Allen, slammed the royals for “churning out a litter” instead of adopting, calling their actions “staggeringly out of touch” amid a global animal homelessness crisis.

Allen pointed to King Charles III and Queen Camilla as positive examples, noting they adopted their dog Moley from a shelter rather than contributing to pet overpopulation.

The Prince and Princess have not commented on PETA’s statement. Orla joined their family in 2020 after the death of their previous dog, Lupo, who had been gifted by Kate’s brother, James Middleton.

It remains unclear how many of Orla’s puppies the couple plan to keep. Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla adopted Moley from Battersea animal rescue earlier this year, continuing their tradition of supporting pet adoption.
