Passenger who survived Air India disaster was sat
British passenger Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the only survivor of a deadly Air India crash that killed 241 out of 242 people onboard. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12, reportedly after issuing a mayday call. The aircraft collided with a doctors’ hostel in a residential area, sparking a massive explosion. Ramesh, who had been seated in 11A, described hearing a loud noise seconds after takeoff before chaos ensued. He managed to escape through an emergency exit and was taken to a hospital, though his brother Ajay, seated elsewhere, did not survive.
In a strange coincidence, Thai singer Ruangsak Loychusak, a survivor of the 1998 Thai Airways TG261 crash, revealed he too had been seated in 11A during his ordeal. That crash killed 101 people, and Loychusak said learning about Ramesh gave him goosebumps. He offered condolences to victims’ families and reflected on how the crash haunted him for a decade. Meanwhile, Ramesh recounted in further detail how the plane stalled, lights flickered, and then it crashed into a building. He recalled seeing people die around him and said he doesn’t know how he survived, calling his escape a miracle.
