Oleksandr Usyk sends Donald Trump
Heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has publicly invited former U.S. President Donald Trump to stay at his home in Ukraine for a week to witness the reality of life during the ongoing war with Russia. The Ukrainian fighter, who holds multiple world titles, criticized Trump’s past remarks blaming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the war and claiming he could have stopped it. Usyk told BBC Sport that Trump should experience the nightly bombings and air raids firsthand, saying, “Every night, there are bombs and flights above my house. It’s enough.”
When asked if a visit might change Trump’s stance, Usyk was uncertain but expressed hope it might bring understanding. He emphasized the suffering of civilians, including children and the elderly, and expressed deep concern for his homeland. Usyk, who has become a symbol of national pride, is set to defend his titles on July 19 in a rematch against British boxer Daniel Dubois. His previous victories, including two wins over Tyson Fury, have reportedly boosted morale among Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front lines.
