New approval rating shows what Trump’s supporters really think of him 6 months into presidency
A recent series of polls has revealed how the public currently views President Donald Trump, following a number of controversial events involving his administration.
This polling wave follows a turbulent few weeks, including a U.S. missile strike on Iranian nuclear facilities and violent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.
Trump also introduced a new policy package dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which sparked a public feud with former ally Elon Musk. Tensions escalated after Trump threatened to deport Musk.
In another shocking moment, Trump proposed deporting U.S. citizens and opened a new immigration center in Florida, controversially nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz.”
These actions seem to be reflected in the polls. A recent ActiVote survey of 523 adults conducted throughout June shows Trump’s approval at 45%, with 52% disapproving — a net approval of -7, the lowest of his second term.
Despite the drop, his current ratings are still better than the lowest points of his first term, when his approval hit 41%. Support remains strong among men, rural Americans, and those aged 50–64.
However, swing voters appear to be turning away. A Quinnipiac poll found only 38% approve of his presidency, with 54% disapproving. On issues like the economy, immigration, and the Ukraine-Russia conflict, the public response has been mostly negative. Only 34% support his handling of the war, with polling analyst Tim Malloy noting Americans are clearly dissatisfied with Trump’s approach.
