Kate Middleton shares emotional cancer update after missing Royal Ascot

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, visited Colchester Hospital’s wellbeing garden on 2 July, marking a significant step in her return to public life following her cancer treatment. During the visit, she planted ‘Catherine’s Rose’ to support cancer recovery efforts and shared emotional insights into her ongoing health journey.

Kate, 43, first revealed her cancer diagnosis after undergoing surgery in March last year. She confirmed that she had started preventative chemotherapy and took time away from royal duties for treatment and recovery.

She later announced in a public statement that her chemotherapy had been completed and that she was beginning the recovery process. In October, she appeared publicly for the first time post-treatment with Prince William, visiting families affected by the Southport attacks.

In January, Kate made her first solo appearance since treatment, visiting the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. There, she thanked medical staff and confirmed she was in remission.

During her latest visit to Colchester Hospital, Kate opened up about the emotional and physical toll of the post-treatment phase, describing it as “really, really difficult.” She emphasized how hard it is to adjust once clinical treatment ends.

Kate reflected on the challenges of not yet being able to return to normal life, despite treatment being over. She highlighted the importance of having support during this transitional phase.

She called the recovery process “life-changing,” not only for patients but for their families. Kate is expected to attend the upcoming state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron at Windsor Castle next week.
