Japanese Baba Vanga’s chilling prediction that sparked tourist cancellations is meant to happen this week
Tourists are reportedly cancelling their summer vacations amid fears of a disaster predicted by Japanese manga artist Ryo Tatsuki. Her prediction has led many to avoid travel to Japan this week.
Tatsuki, dubbed the “new Baba Vanga,” has gained attention for several past predictions that have come true. Baba Vanga, the Bulgarian mystic, was believed to have foretold major global events like 9/11 and Brexit, and Tatsuki seems to be following in her footsteps.
The artist warned of an upcoming natural disaster in her manga The Future I Saw, where she described visions of the ocean “boiling” south of Japan. She predicted a major tsunami would occur on July 5, 2025.
These alarming forecasts appear to have spooked potential travelers. According to NDTV, flight bookings to Japan have dropped significantly, with some travel data showing an 83% decline in bookings from Hong Kong during late June to early July.
Tatsuki claims she has previously predicted major events, including the 1995 Kobe earthquake and Freddie Mercury’s death. She also allegedly foresaw a mysterious virus emerging in 2020, peaking in April, and returning a decade later — raising concerns about another future pandemic.
Her accurate prediction of the 2011 tsunami in Japan has heightened worries that this latest forecast could also come true, leading many to take it seriously.
However, Miyagi prefecture governor Yoshihiro Murai has urged the public not to panic. He emphasized that unscientific rumors should not affect tourism, reassuring people that Japan remains safe to visit.
