FBI’s statement about Trump’s assassination attempt has divided opinion as conspiracy theory sparked over ‘major clue’ it was faked

A resurfaced FBI statement is drawing attention as conspiracy theories swirl about the July 2024 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Theories online suggest the incident may have been staged, with skeptics pointing to a lack of visible ear damage as supposed evidence.

During a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired eight shots from a rooftop using an AR-15-style rifle. Trump suffered a wound to his right ear, one rallygoer was killed, and two others were critically injured before Crooks was shot dead by the Secret Service.

Trump later confirmed the injury on social media, saying a bullet grazed the top of his ear. A physician’s note released by his team supported this, describing the wound as just millimeters from entering his head, though confirming his recovery was going well.

However, critics online have compared images of Trump’s ear from before and after the event, claiming there is no visible difference. Some argue this indicates the wound was fabricated to gain sympathy from voters.

FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted there was still uncertainty over whether Trump was hit directly by a bullet or by shrapnel. He also noted he didn’t have all the ballistic details during his testimony to Congress.

The FBI later reiterated that the shooting was indeed an attempted assassination. They confirmed their investigation continues, including forensic analysis of bullet fragments.

Still, some internet users remain unconvinced, demanding proof of injury and accusing Trump of exaggerating or fabricating the incident for political gain.
