Donald Trump ‘considering adding another 36 countries’ to travel ban list

Donald Trump is intensifying his strict immigration policies, now reportedly planning to add 36 more countries to the U.S. travel ban list. This comes after already restricting travel from 19 nations, triggering backlash over his aggressive immigration measures. His deployment of ICE officers in Los Angeles led to major protests, but Trump continues his clampdown, even banning international students from attending Harvard. He claims these actions are necessary to protect national security, especially following an attack at a pro-Israel rally in Colorado. The current travel ban includes countries from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, such as Iran, Somalia, and Haiti.

Now, countries like Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Syria, Ghana, and Uganda face a 60-day deadline to meet new U.S. security requirements or risk joining the ban. There are limited exceptions: athletes competing in U.S. events, people facing religious persecution in Iran, and Afghan nationals with Special Immigrant Visas may still enter. Dual nationals and lawful U.S. residents are also exempt. With controversy surrounding Trump’s return to the presidency, critics argue these moves deepen the divide over immigration while raising concerns about human rights and global diplomacy.
