Queen Camilla’s son shares shocking admission about his mother’s drinking and smoking habits
Tom Parker-Bowles, son of Queen Camilla, recently opened up about his mother’s personal habits during an appearance on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast.
The 50-year-old food writer and son of Camilla and her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles discussed his career, upbringing, and relationship with his royal mother. Despite his royal connection, Tom emphasized that he had to earn his success and received no trust fund support.
One of the more surprising topics he addressed was the long-standing rumor that Queen Camilla enjoys gin and cigarettes. Tom firmly dismissed this claim, saying he’s never seen her tipsy and that she doesn’t drink gin at all.
He explained that Camilla actually prefers simple meals, typically choosing fish over meat, and doesn’t enjoy spicy or garlicky dishes. When it comes to drinking, she’s partial to red wine but in very modest amounts—about a glass and a half.
Thornton mentioned the public myth of Camilla enjoying a G&T with a cigarette, to which Tom responded that she gave up smoking decades ago and doesn’t touch gin.
He added that their relationship has remained unchanged despite her royal title and that she enjoys gossiping during their family meals.
This wasn’t the first time Tom set the record straight. In a previous interview with The Times, he similarly denied the rumors, reinforcing that Camilla hardly drinks and has never been seen intoxicated.
