Chilling simulation shows how people actually develop cancer and it’s left viewers horrified

A powerful YouTube animation by Dr. Vinay Samuel Gaikwad illustrates how cancer develops in the human body through cellular mutation. These mutations can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and the formation of tumors, which can either be harmless (benign) or dangerous (malignant).

Malignant tumors are life-threatening because they can spread to nearby organs, a process called metastasis. While exact causes of mutations are often unclear, various risk factors can increase cancer risk. Despite declining cancer mortality, an estimated 2 million new cases and over 600,000 deaths are expected in the U.S. in 2025.

The video’s visuals and explanations were overwhelming for some viewers, with comments expressing fear and confusion. One even asked, “What came before hospitals?” reflecting how frightening the science behind cancer can be.

Another simulation by Dr. Paulien Moyaert detailed how cancer can lead to death. For instance, if cancer affects the digestive system, it can block nutrient absorption or even cause feces blockage, both potentially fatal without surgery.

In some cases, pancreatic cancer can lead to the pancreas digesting itself, making it one of the most painful and lethal cancers. Lung cancer can result in asphyxiation due to oxygen deprivation.

Chemotherapy weakens the immune system by suppressing bone marrow, where white blood cells are made. Cancer cells can also infiltrate bone marrow, leading to anemia, low immunity, and abnormal bleeding.

The video ends by discussing cachexia—cancer-induced wasting. It affects half of all cancer patients and is responsible for a significant number of deaths, especially in advanced gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancers.
