Man Arrested After Faking Being A Lawyer But Winning All 26 Cases
A man pretending to be a lawyer, who astonishingly won 26 cases, has been arrested by authorities.
Identified as Brian Mwenda Njagi, he allegedly stole the identity of a legitimate lawyer named Brian Mwenda Ntwiga and practiced law without any qualifications. Despite this, he managed to succeed in every case he took on before both Magistrates and Court of Appeals judges.
After several public complaints, Kenya’s Rapid Action Team stepped in and apprehended him. The Law Society of Kenya confirmed via social media that Njagi is not a registered advocate and has no official standing to practice law in the country.
The real Brian Mwenda Ntwiga reported irregularities after losing access to the legal system’s online portal and noticed alterations in his account details.
A statement by the Law Society of Kenya clarified that Ntwiga had been officially admitted to the Bar on August 5, 2022, and his credentials were properly recorded. However, he never applied for a practicing certificate as he was working at the Office of the Attorney General, where it wasn’t needed.
Ntwiga later posted a video on social media expressing thanks for the support he’s received and vowed to clear his name amid the confusion.
He maintained his innocence and stated that he would eventually reveal the full context behind the mistaken identity and the ongoing investigation.
