Staggering New Trump Approval Ratings Show What US Really Thinks Of Him With Shock Result From One State

New approval ratings reveal what Americans currently think of President Donald Trump, with one traditionally Republican state delivering a surprising outcome.

A poll conducted five months into Trump’s second term showed unexpected results. A follow-up survey by Emerson College Polling found that 45% of voters support Trump’s presidency, while 46% disapprove. Another 9% remain undecided.

Back in January 2025, Trump held a higher approval rating of 49%, according to Daily Boulder. The recent numbers suggest a noticeable dip in public support over the past few months.

The same poll found that 53% of respondents believe the U.S. is on the wrong track, while 48% believe the country is heading in the right direction, indicating a divided national sentiment.

Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling, noted that Democrats have a slight edge over Republicans heading into the upcoming midterms. Among independent voters, 37% favor Democrats, 27% support Republicans, and 36% remain undecided.

A separate poll by the University of Texas and the Texas Politics Project showed an even lower approval rating for Trump at 44%, with 55% of Texans disapproving of his performance.

What’s particularly notable is that in this Texas poll, 51% disapproved of Trump’s handling of the economy, while only 39% approved. Additionally, 52% were unhappy with his approach to inflation and rising prices, compared to just 34% who approved—an unexpected shift in a Republican-leaning state.
