Born Kent Franklin McWhirter on September 26, 1942, in Los Angeles, Kent’s early life involved working at his father’s gas station and later at an airport in exchange for flying lessons. Despite his success in football at Baldwin Park High School, Kent pursued education at Citrus Junior College and the University of Southern California. His entertainment journey began when he played touch football with Ricky Nelson and Elvis Presley in 1961.
