Florida sheriff makes brutally violent threats
As protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests continue across the country, including in Los Angeles and ahead of Donald Trump’s birthday parade in Washington, D.C., a Florida sheriff has issued a harsh warning. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey made it clear during a press conference that any violence during protests will be met with severe consequences. He stated that protesters throwing bricks, firebombs, or pointing weapons will face serious legal action. He also warned against blocking roads, surrounding cars, or fleeing from law enforcement, threatening physical force and even death in extreme cases.
Ivey, known for his provocative rhetoric, added that spitting on or assaulting deputies could result in hospitalization and jail time, including possible bites from police dogs. He bluntly warned that those who pose a deadly threat to officers will be killed. Ivey has made headlines before for his bold statements, including a sarcastic 2021 comment about returning seized marijuana. In 2023, he faced a lawsuit from a man who claimed he was wrongly featured in the sheriff’s “Wheel of Fugitive” video series, which allegedly cost him a job opportunity.
