Eye-opening new Trump approval ratings show
A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that Donald Trump’s approval ratings have taken a significant hit just five months into his second term as U.S. president. Only 38% of Americans currently support his presidency, while 54% disapprove. Despite his promises to do things differently than Joe Biden, his controversial policies, including the “Big Beautiful Bill” and aggressive immigration crackdowns, have sparked backlash. Notably, Trump’s once-strong support on immigration has weakened, with only 43% approving his handling of the issue. His economic and trade policies are also receiving low marks, and just 34% of respondents approve of his approach to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
The poll also touched on public perception of Elon Musk, who recently clashed with Trump over his bill. While Musk remains popular among many Republicans, polling analyst Tim Malloy noted his approval has dipped overall. Political strategist James Carville believes Trump’s faltering support could cause his administration to “collapse,” suggesting Democrats may only need to wait it out. With protests, controversial bills, and international criticism dominating headlines, Trump’s presidency continues to stir division and uncertainty among the American public.
