A Vanishing Era of Childhood: A Reflection on the Past
We are a generation that will never return, marked by a simple and carefree childhood. Walking to and from school, doing homework quickly to join friends in the streets, we cherished moments like playing hide and seek after dark and making mud cakes. Collecting sports cards and returning empty Coke bottles for a mere 5 cents at the local store was our way of indulging in simple pleasures.
Vinyl albums on record players filled our homes, and holding hands during a slow dance held special meaning. Our lives were documented through photo albums and clippings, capturing the essence of our experiences. Rainy days meant board games and cards, as our TV shut off at midnight with the National Anthem playing.
Our upbringing was under the watchful eyes of present parents, attending church and suppressing giggles to avoid consequences at home. The laughter shared under the covers at night was a secret we kept. This cherished era is fading away, and despite our efforts, it won’t return. Growing up during those times was an experience filled with innocence and the pure joy of young love between a girl and a boy.
