Felix, a single dad, helps his elderly neighbor, Mrs. White, mow her lawn. Grateful, she offers him a mysterious antique box, which he hesitates to accept. Later, Mrs. White passes away, and Felix discovers the box among some apples she gave him. Soon, Mrs. White’s lawyer contacts Felix, leading to an intense confrontation over the box’s ownership.
Felix learns the box is extremely valuable, but Mrs. White’s son, Henry, accuses him of theft and offers money to get it back. Felix refuses and decides to auction it instead. At the auction, doubts about the box’s ownership arise, forcing Felix to flee. Desperate, he sneaks into Mrs. White’s house to find proof of ownership but is caught by Henry, who threatens to report him to the police.
Felix sends his daughter Alice to her grandmother’s with the box. Eventually, Felix is arrested but later released when Alice finds documents proving Mrs. White intended for Felix to inherit the box. They reunite, ready to start a new life.
