The Ultimate Housing Adventure: A Boeing 727 Home
In 1993, Jo Ann Ussery turned a $2,000 Boeing 727 into a unique home after losing her house in Benoit, Mississippi. Following her husband’s death, Ussery couldn’t afford a traditional home, so she embraced an unconventional idea—living in a plane.
With less than $30,000, she transformed the aircraft into a 1,500-square-foot home with three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a master bathroom in the cockpit. Ussery lived in the plane with her children until 1999, when it was damaged during a move.
Her story continues to inspire those looking to create unique and affordable living spaces.
