Carrie Underwood: Triumphs and Tragedies
Carrie Underwood, famed “American Idol” winner, has enjoyed a successful country music career, earning seven Grammy Awards and five CMT Artist of the Year titles. She has sold over 60 million albums and received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2018. Married to former hockey player Mike Fisher, they have two sons, Isaiah and Jacob. Despite her success, Underwood has faced significant personal challenges.
Personal Struggles and Resilience
In November 2017, Underwood suffered a severe fall at her Nashville home, injuring her wrist and face. She revealed, “I hurt my face and shattered my hand. I won’t get into the graphic specifics, but when I left surgery the night of my accident, the surgeon informed [my husband] Mike [Fisher] that he had ‘in part’ stitched between 40 and 50 areas.” This incident inspired many songs on her album “Cry Pretty.”
Miscarriages and Faith
Before welcoming their second son, Jacob, in January 2019, Underwood experienced three miscarriages. She shared on “Sunday Morning,” “Why do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t bear a child?” After expressing her feelings to God, she learned she was expecting Jacob. These experiences also influenced her music on “Cry Pretty.”
Connection to Home
Underwood often finds solace in her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma. She said, “I feel like this is the only place my spirit can rest. I can unwind here more than anywhere else.”
Personal and Professional Challenges
Underwood’s life has also seen heartbreak, like her breakup with actor Chace Crawford. In April 2022, she mourned the loss of her dog Ace, writing, “Last night, my beloved Ace passed away. He will always be missed. He was a kind youngster and a devoted friend. I cherish you, Ace.”
