Country music legend Dolly Parton, 77, renowned for entertaining fans throughout her life, has decided to end touring but will continue making music. In an interview with Pollystar, she clarified her decision: “I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.” Despite her absence from the stage, Parton plans to focus on her music and spend quality time with her husband, Carl Thomas Dean.
The couple’s love story began in 1964 when they met outside a Nashville laundromat. Dean, struck by Dolly’s charm, stated, “My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna marry that girl.’ My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin’.’ And that was the day my life began.” Despite initial rejection, Dolly invited him over days later, marking the beginning of their enduring relationship. In 1966, they married in a private Georgia ceremony. Their love, now spanning over 50 years, has recently led Dolly to prioritize time at home with Dean over her touring career.
