Frank Fritz, known for his role on “American Pickers,” faced a series of setbacks stemming from a tumultuous breakup with his long-time partner, Diann Bankson. Their relationship had its ups and downs, culminating in allegations of infidelity on both sides. Despite Fritz’s intentions to marry Bankson, the relationship soured, leading to heartbreak and alcohol abuse:

“I was going to get married, I bought a house and a big expensive ring, and then I found out my fiancée had been dating somebody else for two and half years,” Fritz lamented.

Heartbroken and reeling from the betrayal, Fritz turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism, admitting, “I tried to drink her away.” However, he eventually quit drinking but decided to take a hiatus from dating, nursing his emotional wounds.

Amid this personal turmoil, Fritz faced professional challenges as well. He unexpectedly lost his position as a host on “American Pickers” following a long tenure. Despite expressing a desire to return after recovering from back surgery, Fritz received no clear response from the network, leaving his future with the show uncertain.

Adding to his troubles, Fritz discovered that his former partner had moved on with another man, compounding his sense of loss and isolation. Meanwhile, Fritz’s health took a critical turn when he suffered a stroke in July 2022, requiring hospitalization. Though initially showing signs of improvement, his condition worsened, leading to the appointment of a guardian and conservator to oversee his affairs.

Following his stroke, Fritz’s friend took legal action to ensure his well-being, leading to an Iowa court’s approval of guardianship and conservatorship. This arrangement entailed Fritz’s friend acting as his guardian, making decisions on his behalf, while a bank managed his finances as a conservator.

The court documents revealed the severity of Fritz’s condition, indicating his inability to make sound decisions regarding his health and finances. As a result, the guardianship and conservatorship were deemed necessary to prevent harm to Fritz during his recovery.

Despite the challenges he faced, including personal upheaval, professional setbacks, and health issues, Fritz remained under the care and supervision of his appointed guardians and conservators, emphasizing the importance of support during difficult times.
